Furniture – Architectural Digest Home Design Show 2011 Monday, Mar 28 2011

As we mentioned last week, we’re excited to show you the exciting new designs and innovative new products that were on display at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show this year! We were able to speak directly with the designers and vendors to share whats new.

Here are a few of our favorite furniture vendors from this year’s show:

Miles & May
Miles & May is a New York based furniture design company that specializes in creating eco-friendly furniture. Most of their products are made from reclaimed woods that were rescued building timbers, locally sourced trees that were broken during storms, and old barns to name a few!

We love that they are taking something old or unwanted and transforming it into a functional, beautiful piece of furniture. Their pieces are contemporary, timeless, and have a story!

Ligne Roset
Bold, bright, and beautiful, Ligne Roset reignites our creativity and inspires. Their fresh designs are a collaboration of established and up-and-coming talents in contemporary design. It’s always a thrill to see what they have in store.

Board By Design
We also enjoyed the playfully contemporary pieces from Board By Design. Made of solid wood, the powder coated steel helps to compliment yet add contrast against the grain.

Resource Furniture-Space Saving Furniture Wednesday, Mar 9 2011

The following link takes you to a video and website for Resource Furniture. Founded in 2000 by Steve Spett and Ron Barth, this company offers some amazing furniture to save space in a tiny New York City apartment. However, these items aren’t just for big city apartment dwellers. As we enter into a time of downsizing, making the most of every space in a house becomes more important that ever. Whether it’s just trying to create an extra sleeping space for guests, or having to move two kids into one room, these pieces are the perfect solution and will change the way people are living and viewing their spaces.

Eco Architect Products that Lee Loves Thursday, Jul 29 2010

Inspired by her long time love affair with the Morrocan culture, Lee discovered this incredible finish “Tadelakt ” and has been using it ever since!

Tadelakt is a traditional Moroccan wall finish originating in the Marrakesh Region; it is found in the hammams, the Moroccan steam baths, and in the riads of Marrakesh. It has a smooth appearance, slightly shiny like Marmorino Carrara, but thicker and less textured. It is very durable and quite water-resistant, but breathable.

Lee travels to Morocco whenever she can to feed her DESIGN MUSE and get more inspiration!  She also used this very ANCIENT finish in a NEW MODERN manner in Bathroom designs here in NYC.

Alaskan Essences Wednesday, Jun 30 2010

As part of S. Lee Wright HOLISTIC approach, we offer the use of Alaskan essences & Essential Oils in all of our Feng Shui and Space Cleansing Rituals.

WHAT ARE THESE?

The Alaskan Flower Essence Project is the only essence company in the world that has developed a system of vibrational remedies based on the co-creative relationship that exists between the plant, mineral, and elemental kingdoms. This threefold system is based on the special qualities of healing energy that each kingdom as to offer, and on the synergy that is created when essences from these three kingdoms are used together.

WHY MADE IN ALASKA?

The vibrational purity of the Alaskan environment is what led me to begin preparing essences here. Alaska is one of the few places on our planet where the enviornment is much as it was thousands of years ago… The plant and elemental kingdoms are still intact, healthy, and exuberant because much of the state has never been impacted by human activity.

Perfect & Pure Environment

What is Feng Shui? Saturday, Jun 26 2010

WIND & WATER

Feng Shui is an ancient practice creating the mindful arrangement of your space. The balance & harmony between or internal and external environments is the main purpose of Feng Shui. It is a combination of an ancient Chinese Taoist culture, Buddhism and modern science/design used to work with our natural world to maximize our potential.

OUR APPROACH

S. Lee Wright Ltd emulates Professor Yun Lin’s teachings of Black Sect Feng Shui which transforms the fundamental principles of the ancient Feng Shui philosophy into a method that is applicable in the modern world.

FENG SHUI SERVICES

An on-site visit is required to review the space and determine the Feng Shui Condition. This is a personal situation analysis and results in an individual prescription for each client.

Consultations VARY depending on your own unique needs.  They however are approximately 1 ½ – 2 ½ hours in duration although they can be as long as 5 hours.
Services can also include space review, analysis, and recommendations for space and furnishing lay-out, plus suggestions for modifications to the overall environment to enhance spatial function and harmony.

This also is often the FIRST STEP in the purchasing of a NEW HOME or OFFICE, or the beginning steps of a larger RENOVATION PROJECT.

THE DEFINITION OF HOLISTIC

All lifestyle elements are inter-connected, therefore our approach is one of Holistic Design. HOLISTIC being

ho·lis·tic http://img.tfd.com/m/sound.swf (h-lstk)

adj.

1. Of or relating to holism.
2.

a. Emphasizing the importance of the whole and the interdependence of its parts.
b. Concerned with wholes rather than analysis or separation into parts: holistic medicine; holistic ecology.

ho·listi·cal·ly adv.

We work closely with our clients to create specific programs to meet all of their personal, space, and lifestyle goals through the enhancements of their spaces.

During the Feng Shui process it is a tradition to offer your payment in the form of a ‘red envelope.’  This demonstrates respect to the teacher and enhances the intentions from your session. Pricing upon request.
