Recycling Guidelines: Furniture Donation Pick Ups Thursday, Jun 24 2010 

Call the Opera Thrift Shop coordinator about a week in advance and they will schedule a free pick-up. Furniture must be in excellent condition. They were very happy to work with interior designers and flexible in scheduling free pick-up’s.

Donations to the City Opera Thrift Shop can be made by dropping off goods during regular shop hours (taxi fares are reimbursed up to $10) or by calling for a free pick up.

To schedule a donation pick up, please contact the City Opera Thrift Shop between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm Monday through Friday.  Pick ups may be scheduled for all furniture donations, six or more bags of clothing, or multiple boxes.

See this helpful article  from Tech Soup as recommended to us by our expert organizer, Amy. It advises that any computers under 5 years old can be reused (though it might need refurbishing at the listed NYC centers) and that computers older than 5 years will need to be recycled responsibly.
